Opportunity Place would not be able to operate without the support of individual donors. Donations provide hot water for residents to bathe and do laundry, electricity to keep the lights on so a child is not scared, security systems to keep families safe, and case management to help families improve their financial security and housing stability. Donations make it possible for Opportunity Place to keep families together in a safe shelter while they rebuild their lives.
SAFE SHELTER : These funds support shelter operations and our client’s basic needs: blankets for our rooms, hot water for showers, electricity for our air conditioning, maintenance for our buildings, security systems for our dorms, cleaning supplies. These are critical to making our shelter a safe, supportive environment for families.
PATHWAYS HOME :These funds support our clients’ journey toward self sufficiency and permanent housing. They cover case management and direct client services needed for their case plan: vital records, transportation, re-employment assistance, daycare, physical and emotional health care needs, and re-housing assistance.
MEAL DONOR PROGRAM : If you enjoy cooking or know someone, a church group, or an organization that is looking for a great project, our Meal Donor Program may be just what you are looking for! Every evening – 365 days a year, shelter clients are provided with a nutritious meal. Many of those meals are prepared offsite and delivered by a local church, organization, business or family. If you are interested in donating a meal monthly, quarterly, or on a special occasion please call 850-659-3190 or e-mail Balon to sign-up for our Meal Donor Program. Meals may also be frozen and sent in advance. If you would like to support the Meal Donor Program but do not want to be responsible for preparing the actual meal, click on the meal donation button and a delicious meal will be delivered (on your behalf) by Golden Corral.
GREATEST NEED : Every family’s needs are different and every month brings different challenges to the shelter. Some months its hurricane supplies. Some months its paper products and cleaning supplies. Some months is printing paper for educational flyers. These funds will be used for whatever needs are most urgent when they are given.
DONATIONS make it possible for us for us to keep the shelter open and to support our families’ path back into permanent housing. Choose which program you’d like to fund or opt to fund our greatest need and we’ll devote those funds to whatever the shortfalls are at the time.
