Regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or orientation, Opportunity Place, Inc., serves women (18 years of age or older) and families who are homeless. A family is defined as a single woman; single parent (female or male) with child/ren; legal guardian with child/ren (such as grandparent and grandchild); or domestic partners with shared biological child/ren. Unattended children and single men are not able to stay at Opportunity Place., Inc.

Prospective clients may be denied enrollment and existing clients may be removed from the program if there is reasonable cause for concern that s/he pose a risk to the safety of the children / residents / staff or the security of the Shelter. This may include but is not limited to persons who are actively using alcohol or illicit substances, carrying weapons, show signs of violence, or refusal to honor shelter rules and regulations..

Length of Stay

Based on the needs of the client and availability of rooms, women are able to stay at the Shelter for up to 45 days; families are able to stay for up to 90 days.  Clients who actively demonstrate the desire to rebuild their lives and put forth effort to attain self-sufficiency and stability are able to stay the maximum amount of time – if needed. OPI staff and volunteers will do everything possible to open doors, provide resources, and encourage residents to achieve self-sufficiency.

Success Rate

We are proud of our 85% success rate as derived from those residents who have left the program with a job, resources, a safe place to live and improved life-skills; however, we will not be satisfied until we reach 100%.
