OUR MISSION IS TO HELP WOMEN AND FAMILIES, WHO ARE HOMELESS, ACHIEVE SELF-SUFFICIENCY.

OPI Works

Opportunity Place, Inc. (OPI)

Opportunity Place, Inc. is client-centered and housing-oriented. Our focus is vulnerable families and single women from Okaloosa, Walton and neighboring counties, who are experiencing homelessness; oftentimes at no fault of their own. As a low-barrier shelter we work with the chronically homeless and those who are homeless due to a job loss, family abandonment, domestic abuse, medical debt or other negative life challenge.

We provide a safe haven; respite; nutritious meals; counseling; connection to community resources, childcare; help securing sustainable employment and affordable housing, and so much more. Without Opportunity Place, many of these families and single women would be living in their vehicle or other places not intended for human habitation such as the woods, a park or abandoned property.

Population Served

Regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation, Opportunity Place, Inc., serves single women (18 years of age or older) and families who are experiencing homelessness. A family is defined as a single parent (female or male) with child/ren; legal guardian with child/ren (such as grandparent and grandchild); or domestic partners with shared biological child/ren. The majority of those we serve are good people who have found themselves in a difficult situation. Whether a single female Veteran; a mom and her children living in the woods; a father and mother living in their vehicle with their infant child; or a family fleeing domestic violence, we provide a safe, supportive place for them to rebuild their lives.

Unattended children and single men are not able to stay at Opportunity Place., Inc.

Success Rate

We are proud of our 80% success rate as derived from those residents who have left the program with a job, resources, a safe place to live and improved life-skills; however, we will not be satisfied until we reach 100%.
